Hi All, just came across this picture of an alcantara trimmed steering wheel on a 2008 pre face-lift QP V.

I do like it.

As the thread title says, what is it?

Thanks.

I have this exact same wheel on my QP V which is a 2008 pre facelift Sport GT S Automatica (a fairly rare model with just 667 produced worldwide) - it is definitely a genuine Maserati wheel but I don’t know if it was standard (or an option) on any other models though.

Standard fit on the pre-face-lift QP V Sport GT-S.
In mine, it was blue alcantara.View attachment 126319
Oh my.... That is a nice interior combo.

So is the alcantara on the seats also standard on the pre-face-lift QP V Sport GT-S?

Anyone have a spec sheet for this model? ..... It's really looking appealing.

Yes Alcantara is standard on this model.

The attached PDF gives all the specs and is taken directly from the Maserati media pack CD that was provided at the launch of the pre-facelift Quattroporte Sport GT S Automatica.

Here are some links to reviews of this model:

According to Maserati only 667 of the pre-facelift version were produced and as far as I can tell (based on how many left) there are only 36 in the UK.

Thanks that's really helpful.

So in the pre face-lift modeld is there a Sport GT S as well as a Sport GTS?
I always thought the GTS was identifiable from the GTS inscription on the glove box and also by the oval tail pipes.

Is that not right?

No not for the pre-facelift models, there is a Sport GT (which still has the Skyhook suspension and most are DuoSelect but I believe there are some that have the ZF gearbox) and the Sport GT S the details of which I sent earlier.

The GTS inscription on the glove box and the oval tail pipes are only on the facelift model Sport GTS (am not sure if there is supposed to be a space in “GTS” or not !).

On the pre face lift, there is a gap between the GT and the S, of Sport GT S.
No badge on the glovebox. (But I fitted one on mine, just because I felt like it. Years from now someone will mistakenly think it’s original fit!)

Mines a pre- facelift Gts but was ordered without alcantara however I’m toying with the idea of getting the steering wheel re trimmed. I’ve since also added the gts on the glovebox:rolleyes:

Thanks all, very helpful information.

Did the pre face-lift have the hydraulic valves on the exhaust, operated by the sport button ? Or was this only on the face-lift ?

No the actuated exhaust valves linked to the sport button are only on the facelift version. Although the exhaust on the prefacelift does actually have internal valves that are operated by exhaust pressure only - there are a few threads about this on here and the guy on YouTube with the early Granturismo (which has the same exhaust) cut one open in his last video so you can see how it works.

Yes I've seen that video. It's one of our forum members.
